Paving the Way for Trans Inclusion in Parkour

Amy Harcourt talks about trans inclusion in parkour

Meet Amy Harcourt, a 22-year-old parkour practitioner from Manchester who fell in love with the sport at a young age. Her story is one of courage, resilience and determination. In July 2023, Amy participated in a research study at the University of Brighton, contributing to the ongoing conversation about trans inclusion in sports. This longitudinal study led by Blair Hamilton analyses the effects of hormone treatments on trans athletes’ sporting performance and paves the way for a more inclusive and equitable sports environment. Amy's story serves as a reminder that parkour is about overcoming obstacles, both on and off the course. In the spirit of parkour’s core values, we believe that our sport is for everyone. As we celebrate the inspiring story of Amy, let’s remember that together, we can ensure that parkour remains an inclusive space for personal growth, unity, and empowerment and welcomes people of all backgrounds, abilities and identities.
